St. Francis Yacht Club, one of the world's premier sailing venues, has announced its action-packed 2025 regatta season.

The 2025 racing calendar features national and world championships in multiple sailing disciplines, as well as a diverse lineup of events for sailors of all ages and skill levels. All sailors are invited to explore these unique competitive offerings and be a part of the club's history and tradition of sailing on San Francisco Bay.

"St. Francis Yacht Club is proud to announce its 2025 regatta season, featuring multiple championships and other notable high-profile events," said StFYC's 2025 Commodore Adam Gambel. "This season continues the Club's tradition of hosting exciting world-class racing on San Francisco Bay for competitive fleets, from the most traditional to the newest, including foiling events."

2025 Marquee Regattas

Women's World Match Racing Tour - Casa Vela Cup, May 28-31
This prestigious event will attract the best match racers in the world to compete in J/22s at StFYC. The WWMRT is a series of high-profile regattas held in different countries, with four stops planned in 2025.

US Wingfoil National Championship, June 20-22
Hosted with US Sailing, the second year of this championship will bring together the best wingfoilers in the country to showcase their skills and agility. A new sailing discipline that combines elements of windsurfing and kitefoiling, wingfoiling is one of the fastest growing sports and offers spectacular competition at breathtaking speeds. The event also includes Demo Days of vendors showcasing the latest gear and technologies.

Sears Cup Chubb US Youth Triplehanded Championship, August 6-9
One of the most highly sought trophies for youth sailors, the Sears Cup will be contested in J/22s on the challenging waters of San Francisco Bay. Racing will be sailing league-format with umpired fleet races. The Area G Sears Cup Qualifier will also be held at StFYC on May 10.

US Women's Match Racing Championship, August 14-17
Hosted in conjunction with US Sailing, this championship provides a platform for the most talented female match racers in the country to demonstrate their skills at StFYC's challenging venue.

Rolex Big Boat Series, September 10-14
Registration opens soon for this pinnacle event on the West Coast sailing calendar. Known for high-caliber participants, fierce competition and a spectacular social scene, Rolex Big Boat Series draws the largest yachts and fleets to race against the stunning backdrop of San Francisco Bay. The Aldo Alessio Offshore Regatta will be held September 20, as a return race to Southern California for Rolex Big Boat Series competitors who traveled to San Francisco Bay.

RS Tera North American Championships, October 25-26
The youngest sailors are invited to race for the national championship in this popular and competitive fleet. StFYC will provide charter boats for sailors traveling across the country. It will be held the same weekend as StFYC's Fall Dinghy regatta, which draws hundreds of competitors in multiple small boat classes.

"We are looking forward to an exciting and successful 2025 season and invite all sailing enthusiasts to be part of these great events," said Felix Weidling, StFYC's Race Director. "St. Francis Yacht Club remains at the forefront of sailing, consistently setting high standards and offering a platform that champions excellence, fosters innovation and builds a strong sense of community. We look forward to sharing these unforgettable experiences with you."

A major element of StFYC's 2025 season are new events designed to draw more talented racers to the club and provide more opportunities for inclusion in the world of sailing.

New and developing events

The Sailing League Regatta, May 3-4
The Sailing Champions League, which organizes high-level club vs. club fleet racing, is expanding in the US. The competition features short races in one-design boats on standardized courses. Eighteen teams compete in a six-boat rotation in umpired fleet races, with the winner qualifying for the Sailing Champions League Final.

RS Venture Connect PanAm Championship, October 4-5
The Para Sailing Championship invites disabled sailors to compete using RC Ventures equipped for their needs. This event will be held back-to-back with the US National Para Sailing Championship and StFYC will provide six boats allowing up to 18 teams to compete.

Star Class Calvin Paige Trophy, October 18-19
The Star Class will compete for the Calvin Paige Trophy during the weekend of the Fall Invitational Regatta, which is open to Alerion 28, Folkboat, J/22, J/24 and Olson 25 classes.

StFYC Team Race Invitational, November 1-2
A new team race opportunity for the top clubs invited to participate in a weekend of intense competition. Team racing is a dynamic and cooperative discipline where strategy and teamwork are paramount.

"All of us at St. Francis Yacht Club are excited to unveil the new events and additions to the 2025 regatta season," said Dave MacEwen, the 2025 Chair of StFYC's Executive Race Committee. "We're particularly pleased to continue our commitment to expanding the Sailing League, which is a great opportunity for sailors of all ages and skill levels to compete and improve. Building this league reflects our effort to make sailing more accessible and inclusive, encouraging broader participation."

Additionally, StFYC is proud to include an adaptive sailing event on the calendar, the RS Venture Connect PanAm Championship. "Providing sailors with disabilities the opportunity to participate in our competitions is an initiative that underscores the club's commitment to inclusion and accessibility in sailing," said Weidling.

The many weekly series, annual fall and spring regattas and other races that return year after year to the club's calendar, such as Elvstrom-Zellerbach, Opti Heavy Weather Regatta and Ronstan Bridge to Bridge, remain in the 2025 lineup. StFYC encourages all sailors to make their plans to participate in the various regattas offered this season and enjoy the hospitality of its world class facility and racing venue.
