Optiorange 2025 at Real Club Náutico de València - Day 3

by Pep Portas 1 Mar 20:10 UTC 27 February - 2 March 2025

The third day concluded with two races completed, so the committee closed the qualifying round and gives way to the final series, to be contested on Sunday 2 March.

OptiOrange 2025 continues to make progress. Third day at the Real Club Náutico de Valencia in which this time the wind came, perhaps too much, with an average of around 21 knots of intensity on an axis of 050º accompanied by significant waves. Despite this, the race committee was able to close two races, ending the qualifying series and moving on to the final round, with a single day and the gold, silver, bronze, emerald and orchid groups.

In this third round, the weather forecast has been fulfilled, although the rain has not been present. The Peruvian Joaquin Acevedo (Team Happy/CRL) has also fulfilled, this time in the yellow group and although he has not been as good as yesterday, he closes his participation this Saturday with 4-2 partials that, together with the first two obtained this Friday, adding the discard adds up to 4 points.

Acevedo is not assured of the title, as the difference with the second of the table is only 3. A place that is occupied by the Spanish Juan Lleonart (CN El Balis) with 5-9 on Friday and today with two partial victories in the red group. Nearby is the French Lilou Backes (YCPR - Sopraventus) who takes over from the Ukrainian Olha Lubianska (Obolon SK/JK Split/OW) that today has not been her day, with numbers of 12 and UFD in the second that makes down to the position of the absolute general, sixth in women.

Behind them, four are occupying that place, and all four are tied on 9 points. Charles Ganivet (BN Mare Vela) is the first of them with 2-3 today, followed by American Paloma Barrera-Davila (Coconut Grove SC), 21-4, and British Jonny Rogers (Royal Lymington YC), 3-7. Marta Mansito (RCN de Gran Canaria) continues to climb and is already seventh overall and third in the women's rankings.

For tomorrow, the fourth and last day of the OptiOrange Valènica 2025, the final series is scheduled to take place, with three races in the portfolio and with the gold, silver, bronze, emerald and orchid groups as protagonists.

Declarations:

Joaquín Acevedo | PER374 ?

"The day was difficult, shifty light wind, cold but I think I did very well. I got 2 ones. I played my shifts, I sailed with the fleet I was constant. I wasn't expecting this results, I was just sailing the best I could".

Olha Lubianska | UKR314

"Yesterday in the water I had my conditions, I like them very much. The race was really interesting, 104 boats in the fleet a great experience for me. There is a good level, specially the top 20".

Agustín Zabalua, Colaborador RCNV (Meteorología)?

"At the moment we have quite particular conditions, it's windy today. We are going to have north-east breeze between 15-18 knots, getting a little bit stronger by tomorrow. The low pressure system is still pushing hard"
