The 4th Annual Bahamas Cruisers Gathering lit up the shores of Great Guana Cay as nearly 100 vessels dropped anchor in Black Point for four days of unforgettable community, culture, and cruising camaraderie.
Supported by the Seven Seas Cruising Association (SSCA) and hosted in partnership with Lorraine's Café, the "NO FEE" event brought cruisers and locals together in an inspiring celebration of Bahamian life, tradition, and generosity.
This year's gathering highlighted Bahamian culture through an exciting lineup of activities: live music, youth dance performances, thrilling Class "C" Sloop races, and vibrant beachside festivities. Cruisers were welcomed as active participants, with many even joining the sloop crews to race across the turquoise waters. From conga lines and fire dancers to straw plaiting competitions and nature walks, the event offered something for everyone.
The celebration also included impactful giving. Cruisers donated school supplies, sports gear, health items, and musical instruments to benefit local families and youth. Community support was central to the gathering's mission of deepening bonds between visitors and the Black Point settlement.
Event highlights:
- Island Walk & Welcome Night: Attendees kicked off the event with a guided tour of Black Point followed by a sunset buffet at Lorraine's High Tide Café. The night came alive with performances from the Sand Dollar Dancers and live music from local talents, including Dr. Josiah and DJ Carlton.
- Sloop Racing & Cultural Traditions: Sloop captains welcomed cruisers aboard, blending adventure with tradition. Competitions in straw weaving showcased the region's rich artisanal heritage, while live performances and dancing kept spirits high throughout the weekend.
- Dinghy Raft-Up & Beach Party: Over 40 dinghies gathered for an epic pop-up party featuring Rolf's signature Rum Punch and music on the sandbar. The joy reached new heights as Lorraine herself joined the flotilla for the first time.
- Raffle & Awards Night: An exciting raffle featured prizes like PredictWind Pro subscriptions, marine electronics, gift certificates, and locally donated treasures. Awards honored sloop crews and dedicated community members, including SSCA Presidential Awards presented to Uriah Rolle and "Killer" Rolf.
- Grand Finale: Sunday closed with a floating Dinghy Concert and a heartwarming Cruisers Appreciation Buffet hosted by Lorraine's Café, followed by a soul-stirring final concert led by Dr. Josiah. Tears and cheers filled the air as the community danced under the stars one last time.
