The 'Land of the Sirens' trophy, presented by the Yacht Club Capri for the first boat to pass through the gate in front of the Faraglioni, was also won by Matteo Uliassi's DNA F4 Falcon catamaran, the fastest boat in the fleet, even though the light breeze did not allow her foiling.
The crossing from Porto Cervo to Capri, which was mostly upwind, was actually pretty quick for Falcon. They got through the gate yesterday afternoon (29 April) at 5.26pm (CEST) and then headed down the coast of Italy to make the most of the night breezes in the ascent towards Livorno. But according to the current forecasts, those will unfortunately be slow. So, at the moment, we just can't say when they'll arrive.
The night lull slowed the fleet down a lot while they were still in the middle of the Tyrrhenian Sea, but Francesco Giordano's X-41 Adrigole II was able to lengthen its run by passing below the Faraglioni this morning (30 April) at 9.49 minutes. It had to wait for the north-westerly wind to pick up to 8 knots for the third fastest racer, the Figaro 2 Tintorel of solo Frenchman Michel Cohen, to stop the stopwatch at the gate at 13:48. Next up were the Class 9.50 Pegasus and the Sunfast 3600 Lunatika, both Double Handed. They caught up with 3rd and passed 4th and 5th about an hour later, just two minutes apart, at 14:57 and 13:14, and 14:59 and 35, respectively.
So, at 15:38, the X 412 Zeroincondotta passed, and then at 16:02 it was the Jeanneau 49 Amapola II. The next boats to pass Capri in real time should be: the GS 40 Blues, the Mini 650 Pegaso Marina Militare, the women's team on Audace and Fomalhaut Marina Militare. After that, it's Tattoo, Manicchia, Shark, Antares and Mizar Crocodile.
