Dragon World Championship by Tivoli Hotels & Resorts at Vilamoura, Portugal - Day 5

by Prow Media 16 May 19:40 UTC 10-17 May 2025

Day 5 of the Dragon World Championship by Tivoli Hotels & Resorts brought light winds and only one race, but it was enough to make history: Provezza Dragon, led by Andy Beadsworth, has secured the 2025 Dragon World Champion title, ahead of the final day.

After a promising start, the wind dropped during the race, forcing the Race Committee to shorten the course. The second scheduled race had to be abandoned due to insufficient wind conditions.

With consistent performances throughout the week, the Provezza team - Andy Beadsworth, Simon Fry, and Enes Çaylak - now holds an unassailable lead going into the last day.

But the competition is far from over. The battle for the second and third positions remains incredibly close and will only be decided tomorrow. Team Saturn, helmed by Pedro Rebelo de Andrade, and GINKGO RACING, led by Jan ECKERT, are currently just a few points apart on points, promising an intense showdown for the final podium spots.

Tonight, sailors and guests will come together for the much- anticipated Official Dinner at the Lakeside of the Tivoli Marina Vilamoura Hotel - a special moment to celebrate an exceptional week of world-class sailing.

The first warning signal tomorrow is scheduled for 13:00, and the Prize Giving Ceremony will take place at 18:00.

With just one race remaining, the stage is set for a spectacular finale on the waters of Vilamoura.
