Jazz Turner's Sailability fundraising target is smashed, so she has to set another

Jazz Turner has now passed the northern-most tip of Ireland and is on her way to the Shetland Islands, and at the same time her fundraising total of £30,000 has been smashed!

For a young woman who had a wheelchair get in the way of her high-performance sailing dreams, and wasn't even sure if she'd be alive past spring 2025, this circumnavigation is even more amazing. Her local Sailability group will now be able to afford new boats and equipment to bring the freedom of sailing that Jazz loves so much, to yet more people.

So should she stop now? Pop into the marina at Oban? Job done?

Hardly likely! Even just two weeks into the project has been enough to show us clearly how Jazz has a mighty power and drive which enables her to push past the pain and complications of her condition, to achieve more than most of us would dream of. Maybe some of that comes from her knowing how she is helping other people.

YachtsandYachting.com is delighted to hear the news that Jazz's goal has been upped to £50,000 and we think it is likely she will smash that total too. Demand for the uplifting experience Sailability gives is high; it is great that Jazz's efforts will mean more people can get afloat per week than ever before.

If you are able, please make a donation. Funds will buy new boats, hoists and servo-steering kits for the Newhaven & Seaford Sailability centre. Whilst these craft aren't going to be made of carbon fibre, with 3DL sails, the costs of getting multiple sailors (with or without a disability) out on the water can soon mount up.
