The 2025 Suzuki ILCA Master European Championships officially kicked off on Monday in Hayling Island, Great Britain.
With ideal sailing conditions, both of the scheduled races were completed in the afternoon. The wind averaged 9 knots, and the near-flat water provided perfect conditions for the competition.
In the ILCA 6, Canadian sailor Maura Dewey CAN leads the Women's, Apprentice Master, and Overall standings with 3 points. She is closely followed by Jon Emmett GBR, leader in the Masters' category, who has 5 points. In third place overall is Thomas Hansson SWE, the Grand Masters' leader, with 9 points.
In the ILCA 7, Grand Masters Roger Schulz GER and Lennart Cnossen NED are at the top of the overall rankings, with 8 and 9 points, respectively. Race winners Ian Elliott SWE and Benoit Meesemaecker NED sit in third and fourth overall, tied with 10 points each.
Two new races are scheduled for Tuesday, with the first warning signal at 12:00. The forecast predicts similar conditions to Monday.
Racing will continue every day until Friday, June 20th, when the new Master European champions will be crowned. A total of 128 sailors from 19 countries are being part of the competition.
