Mylius Yachts unveils M60GL: a new benchmark in 60-foot performance cruising

by Mylius Yachts 19 Jun 13:39 UTC

For over thirty years, Mylius Yachts has pursued a singular mission: to build fast, comfortable, fully customised sailing yachts tailored to each owner's unique needs.

  • The first sailing yacht designed by Giovanni Ceccarelli for Mylius Yachts, launching in 2026
  • A sporty, high-tech cruiser-racer blending marine elegance and cutting-edge design, poised to set a new standard in the 60-foot segment

This ongoing commitment to design innovation has led to collaborations with some of the world's most renowned naval architects, ensuring that the yard maintains its exceptional standards of quality and craftsmanship.

In keeping with this philosophy, Mylius is proud to unveil the new M60GL, an 18.5-metre sailing yacht designed by Giovanni Ceccarelli. Though already the designer behind a line of Mylius motorboats, this is his first sailing project for the yard. "Ceccarelli has an outstanding pedigree in race yacht design, including two America's Cup challengers," says Mylius Yachts CEO Valentina Gandini. "So, it felt natural to entrust him with this project: a yacht that marks a new aesthetic direction while staying true to the Mylius DNA. The brief from the owner was very specific, and Ceccarelli captured it perfectly, blending innovation with our family feeling of speed, beauty and comfort. The result is a modern 60-footer with exceptional performance and liveability, wrapped in pure style."

Concept: Blue Water performance with no compromises

Designed for owners who love the thrill of fast cruising but also enjoy competitive racing and plan to use their yacht for family holidays, the M60GL is a purebred cruiser-racer that's already generating strong interest in the market. Its unique combination of high performance, generous interior volume and unprecedented comfort means the M60GL meets diverse demands without ever compromising on quality, speed, or style.

Design: form follows function

Ceccarelli's design signature is clear in the M60GL's modern, muscular lines; with a full bow and distinctive reverse sheer—and in the underwater hull, engineered to offer top-tier racing performance while remaining exceptionally stable and seaworthy for cruising. Constructed in pre-preg carbon fibre with a Corecell core, the hull and appendages are optimised to deliver satisfaction both inshore and offshore, particularly in Mediterranean regattas. Velocity Prediction Program (VPP) simulations point to exceptional speeds at reaching and downwind, while careful aerodynamic and hydrodynamic flow analysis ensures balance and control in all sea conditions.

Sail plan: optimised for racing, even shorthanded

With a displacement of around 16 tonnes, depending on the customer's desired configurations, and equipped with a bowsprit, the M60GL boasts a sail plan that reflects its racing DNA: a 24-metre Hall Spars carbon mast, paired with carbon standing rigging and running backstays, supports an impressive sail area, including a 120 sqm square-top mainsail and a 325 sqm gennaker. The setup is completed by Harken Racing GP winches (one central for the mainsail, two primaries and two halyard winches) and hydraulic transverse jib tracks. The deck layout is designed for a favourable IRC/ORC rating and can be easily and safely managed even shorthanded. It can also be adapted for more cruising-oriented use.

Deck plan: iconic detailing, ergonomic design

Perfectly in line with Mylius' all-round philosophy, the deck plan fulfils its dual purpose as both a regatta and cruising platform. The fully flush, step-free deck runs cleanly from bow to stern, and the generous 5.5-metre beam translates into an unusually spacious social area for a yacht of this type. All running rigging is led below deck, allowing guests to relax without interfering with the helm or crew. A semi-rigid, foldable carbon bimini can be fitted for protection under way. In the cockpit, two side benches with removable cushions and a demountable table make the space easily adaptable for either racing or relaxed sailing. Iconic details include twin helm wheels with the integrated M and Y logos, a raised deck feature evoking the motion of a wave, and engine air intakes on the aft transom inspired by automotive design. When opened, the transom becomes both a swim platform and tender garage, while forward, a small sail locker proves invaluable both at sea and in port.

Interiors: light, comfort and elegant simplicity

Thanks to advanced composite construction techniques and lightweight materials, the M60GL is exceptionally light for her class. This weight-saving philosophy enhances both sailing performance and the quality of life below deck, where interiors are particularly spacious, welcoming, and crafted with meticulous attention to detail.

Hull number one, commissioned by a European owner, features a three-cabin, three-head layout, with a generous central saloon. The master suite is located forward, while aft there are two guest cabins: one double and one twin with separate berths. The galley is positioned to port midships; the navigation station is to starboard. Oversized rectangular hull windows flood the space with natural light, while the aesthetic reflects the owner's preference for a refined, sporty style. The dominant colour is white: bleached oak flooring, high-gloss white bulkheads, and sofas upholstered in white Loro Piana fabrics.

Customisation: the bespoke MYLIUS YACHTS touch

In keeping with the Mylius philosophy, the M60GL offers broad scope for customisation, from deck layout and sail plan to interior décor, furnishings, and material selection. Owners can shape the yacht to fit their personal style and lifestyle. Standard features include air conditioning, full domotic systems controlled via iPad, latest-generation B&G instrumentation, state-of-the-art infotainment and even a removable washing machine, a significant plus when switching to racing mode.

Scheduled to launch in 2026, the new Mylius M60GL is poised to become a new benchmark in the 60-foot category, once again embodying the excellence of Italian craftsmanship and the distinctive vision of Mylius Yachts.
