BIA welcomed the Qld Government announcement yesterday of $13.2M to 'fast track' planning for the State-owned boat harbours which are home to a number of significant marinas and boatyards.

The investment commitment is for accelerated master planning and backing the marine industry to support jobs, marinas, boatyards, boost tourism, and unlock economic growth in coastal regions.

BIA was at the forefront of engagement with the Qld Government in the master planning process for Scarborough Boat Harbour which went through a thorough multi-phase consultation process.

It is also noteworthy that Scarborough Boat Harbour is to receive an 'additional' $3.9M to kick start priority infrastructure as part of yesterday's funding announcement.

Meanwhile BIA is already engaged in the planning process which is moving again for Manly, Urangan and Rosslyn Bay. Boat harbours at Bowen, Mooloolaba, Snapper Creek (Tin Can Bay), and Cabbage Tree Creek (Shorncliffe) will follow.
