The countdown to the 75th Centomiglia del Garda has officially begun. The longest-running inland offshore regatta in Italy, organized by Circolo Vela Gargnano, will take place on September 6-7, 2025.
Online registration is already open at centomiglia.it, with an open invitation to all offshore sailors and boats.
To celebrate 75 years of history, the 2025 edition introduces major technical and territorial innovations. For the first time, the overall ranking will be calculated according to ORC rules, allowing for a fairer competition in which boats of different sizes and types can aim for victory. A step that brings the Centomiglia closer to major international regattas, making it more accessible and meritocratic.
ORC certificate benefits in cooperation with UVAI
One of the key new features is the agreement with UVAI - Unione Vela d'Altura Italiana, which provides financial incentives for obtaining or renewing the ORC certificate.
- Minialtura boats (6-10 meters long, under 2000 kg displacement) that have never had an ORC certificate, or haven't renewed it in at least 5 seasons, can obtain one for free.
- All other boats will pay just €80 as UVAI membership.
- Minialtura boats not eligible for free certification can still obtain or renew it for €30 (instead of €100) if processed via a UVAI-affiliated club.
- For one-design classes, only one boat in the class needs a valid ORC certificate.
Follow the regatta from your smartphone or in Bogliaco's main square
Beyond the water, the shoreside experience also grows.
The race will be live-streamed with GPS tracking on a large screen in Bogliaco's main square, featuring live footage from the course, including onboard cameras, with commentary by journalist Andrea Falcon and guest speakers with Centomiglia experience.
Alternatively, anyone can follow the regatta remotely via the Metasail tracking platform.
New social media channels for Centomiglia
To mark the 75th edition, Centomiglia del Garda has launched its official social media profiles, complementing the Circolo Vela Gargnano's established channels:
Official partners
The event is supported by Regione Lombardia and a network of outstanding partners.
Main sponsor is Fineco, one of Europe's leading fintech banks, listed on the FTSE MIB. Fineco is known for its efficient, transparent and tech-driven business model, serving over 1.7 million clients with banking, investing, and brokerage services.
Additional supporters include: Euroimmobiliare, Cantiere del Pardo, Consorzio del Valtenesi, Acqua Tavina, and Hotel Eala - My Lakeside Dream, all aligned with Centomiglia's values of excellence, innovation and connection to the territory. Institutional partners include Regione Lombardia, Comune di Gargnano (Departments of Commerce, Sports & Tourism, and Culture) and Pro Loco Gargnano - This is Gargnano.
Onshore events bring sailing to the piazza
Centomiglia is not just sport - it's also about culture, community, and celebration.
As part of the CentomigliaFestival, on Thursday, September 4, Gargnano will host the screening of the documentary film No More Trouble - Cosa rimane di una tempesta by Tommaso Romanelli, who will be present. The film recounts the disappearance of his father Andrea Romanelli, sailor and yacht designer, who was lost in the Atlantic during a storm in 1998 aboard Fila with Giovanni Soldini. In the film poster, a Centomiglia-branded sailing bag is visible among the coiled ropes — a symbolic tie between this emotional story and Lake Garda's most storied sailing event.
Friday, September 5 evening: Street performers and family-friendly entertainment will bring the piazza to life.
Saturday, September 6 evening: A live concert with two bands will offer music and dancing for crews, tourists, and locals.
Sunday evening: Awards ceremony and handover to the 76th edition of Centomiglia.
Racing schedule, trophies and scoring
- Trofeo Gargnano (Saturday, 6 Sept, 8:30 am): Bogliaco > Gargnano > Desenzano > Bogliaco

- Line Honours: awarded to the first boat across the finish line in real time for both days.
- ORC Overall - Trofeo Bettoni: combined points from both days determine the overall winner.
- ORC Class rankings: individual rankings for each ORC class.
- One-design class rankings: for classes with at least 5 boats, scored over both races.
- ORC Double Handed - Trofeo Beppe Croce: best double-handed crew over two races.
- Multicento ranking: for multihulls over 18 feet with at least two crew members.
A special note for 2025: the Trentino buoy returns, restoring the regatta's most authentic form, embracing all three shores - Brescia, Veneto and Trentino - and their communities.
Centomiglia del Garda 2025 promises to be more technical, inclusive, and spectacular, while staying true to its origins. For 75 years, it has united generations of sailors in a festival of sailing, navigation, and territory.
All boats are welcome. Register by September 1 and find the official Notice of Race at www.centomiglia.it

Looking ahead: new 2026 date under consideration
In agreement with the XIV Zone of the Italian Sailing Federation and its President Gianpaolo Montagni, Circolo Vela Gargnano is considering moving the 76th Centomiglia to September 12-13, 2026, one week later than usual. The aim is to avoid overlap with national youth regattas held around the same period, ensuring higher participation and visibility. A strategic shift to further enhance this unique event.
A voice from within: Domenico Foschini, sailor and FIV board member
Among the voices supporting the 75th edition is Domenico Foschini, longtime Centomiglia sailor and now member of the Italian Sailing Federation:
"September is a highlight of the Lake Garda sailing season — a time of excitement and shared passion. Organizing such events is never easy, and credit must go to Circolo Vela Gargnano, which takes on this challenge each year with passion and commitment, ensuring that the Centomiglia and Gorla continue to inspire sailors with their spirit of adventure and competition.
Personally, I carry with me memories of many editions: the preparations, fine-tuning the crew, perfecting strategies. These are the experiences that shaped generations of sailors.
Of course, times change, and the evolution of our sport brings new routes and new challenges. I fully support the tireless work that Franco Capuccini and the organizing team are doing to ensure this beautiful Garda sailing story continues — both as a sporting legend and a cultural celebration, inspiring moments of community and pure joy.
With warmest sailing regards... fair winds, even when close-hauled!"
