Allen National 12 Burton Week 2025 at Brightlingsea Sailing Club - Update

by Isobel Stewart 26 Aug 2025 07:58 UTC 23-26 August 2025

With five races sailed in National 12 Burton Week at Brightlingsea Ollie Meadowcroft and Cally Terkelsen hold a small lead over Graham and Blue Camm with two races to sail on Tuesday.

The most important race of the week - the enduring Burton Cup race, was on Sunday. The two hour battle was fought between Graham and Blue Camm and Ollie and Cally, with the wind building throughout. The strong lead that Graham and Blue had established in the light wind beginnings was pushed to it's limits and finally broken by Ollie and Cally who sailed through to win the sought after trophy.

The wind has built steadily throughout the event, with the Camms dominating in the softer air but Ollie and Cally, Tom and Isobel Stewart, Ian and Alex Gore, and Rory Gifford and Ben Whaley are all teams to beat when the breeze picks up.

On Bank Holiday Monday, our heroes of the day were Rory and Ben who led the fleet around the course with incredible boat speed, though were ultimately overtaken in the final stages of the race by both Ollie and Cally and Tom and Isobel who crossed the line to silence. Ollie and Cally took 1st and Rory and Ben 2nd.

Onto Tuesday for the final two races of the event.
