Snipe European Championship 2025 sets sail in Vilamoura

by Prow Media 8 Sep 14:58 UTC 9-13 September 2025

The much-anticipated Snipe European Championship 2025 officially opens today in Vilamoura, one of World's premier sailing destinations.

Over the next days, the fleet of 75 boats representing 11 nations will take to the waters to compete for the prestigious European title. Hosted by Vilamoura Sailing, part of Prow Group, the championship brings together top sailors of the Snipe Class, known for its long tradition, tactical racing, and unique spirit of camaraderie. The championship brings together sailors from 14 to 71 years old, showcasing the true spirit of the Snipe Class across generations.

The two days prior to the opening ceremony were dedicated to registration and measurement procedures, ensuring all boats meet the class rules and are fully prepared for racing.

"We are proud to welcome the Snipe Class back to Vilamoura," said Nuno Reis, CEO of Prow Group/Vilamoura Sailing. "Our waters are once again the stage for a championship that combines high-level competition with the vibrant community that makes the Snipes so special."

Racing is scheduled to begin on September 9 and will run through to September 13, with a full program of races.
