Poland's Jacek Noetzel claimed the first title, on the penultimate day of the 2025 Predictwind A-Class Catamaran World Championships being sailed at Milford on Auckland's North Shore.

Noetzel won the Classic fleet title (non foiling) with two races yet to be sailed in the regatta. His scorecard of 10 consecutive wins in the 12 race series was dominant with a capital "D". If he chooses not to sail in the two races set down for the Final day, Noestzel will be able to discard those two races from his points score and will finish the series with 10 race wins.

Two Australian competitors Jamie Jochheim and Andrew Landenberger will contest the other two places on the podium. Currently they are separated by just 3pts, with both finishing in the top four in each of the ten races sailed. New Zealand's Mike Drummond is in 4th overall, but cannot improve his overall race, due to the Australian's consistency.

In the Open fleet twice world champion, Jakub Surowiec is positioned to achieve a three-peat, enjoying a 4pt lead over Ravi Parent (USA). The Defending Champion has a very consistent pointscore with four wins from the nine wins sailed to date, and with two races left in the regatta. Parent had a better day posting his third win of the series. Despite leading the series after two days of racing in light/moderate conditions, Parent posted a 4th and 5th placing in Friday's survival racing in winds that gusted to 30kts. Surowiec probably sealed the title by posting three wins in response. He has a 6th place in Race 1 as one of his discard placings, and cannot afford to drop down the fleet in the lighter winds that are expected for the final day of the series.

Australia's Darren Bundock and Adam Beattie will fight for the third podium place, with just 2pts of separation between the two. Both came out of today's racing all square, with both adding 8pts to their score.

A feature of both fleets has been the consistency of sailing of the top sailors, in all weathers, meaning that sailors are discarding places which would normally regarded as very countable in any other class.

Racing is set to continue on Sunday, with both fleets expected to sail two races, three in the Open fleet weather permitting.
