by RS Marine Group 20 Jan 15:24 UTC 16-26 July 2026

The countdown begins! Entries for the RS Games 2026 are officially open and the response from the global RS community has been nothing short of spectacular.

Within just 48 hours of entries opening on Saturday 18th January, over 100 sailors had already signed up, setting the tone for what promises to be the biggest celebration of RS Sailing classes ever.

At the time of writing, 120 sailors from 14 nations have registered, representing 85 entries across the fleets. With eyes firmly set on an anticipated 1,000 sailors, the early momentum shows just how excited the RS community is to come together once again for this iconic event.

RS Games: Heading overseas for the first time

Held every four years, the RS Games are the ultimate celebration of the RS Sailing community. In 2026, the Games make history by heading outside the UK for the very first time, landing in the beachside sailing city of Travemünde, Germany.

The RS Games 2026 will feature 12 RS Classes and 13 Championships, including:

  • 3 World Championships
  • 9 European Championships
  • 1 EuroCup

The event will be hosted by Travemünder Woche, one of the largest sailing events in Northern Europe, where thousands of sailors descend on the city for 10 days of racing, parties, and festival atmosphere. Expect bustling promenades lined with stalls and music, green spaces transformed into dinghy parks, and sandy beaches filled with launching areas for dinghies of all shapes and sizes.

Entries go live at boot Düsseldorf

Entries officially opened live from the Travemünder Woche stand at boot Düsseldorf at 17:00 (CET) on Saturday 19th January, and organisers took to the Sailing Centre stage on Sunday 20th January to for their presentation for the entire festival. RS Sailing's Commercial Director, Michiel Geerling, was on hand at the show to welcome sailors from around the world as the announcement went live and the first entries rolled in.

"The RS Games are all about bringing our global community together, and seeing over 100 sailors enter within the first two days is incredibly exciting," said Michiel. "Travemünder Woche is the perfect host - a great sailing festival with a fantastic atmosphere. I'd like to thank the Travemünder Woche organisers for their support and enthusiasm, and I'm especially looking forward to joining the action myself, racing in the RS21 alongside sailors from across the world."

Flexible racing, maximum experience

The RS Games span 10 days, with RS classes racing for 4-5 days per event, depending on the class. The race schedule has been carefully designed to allow sailors to mix and match back-to-back events, making the most of the RS Sailing atmosphere.

For example:

  • Youth sailors can race the RS Tera World Championship before pairing up for the RS Feva World Championship.
  • RS Feva sailors can start with the RS500 European Championship before switching to the Feva Worlds.
  • RS500 sailors can race their Europeans and then step into an RS21.

And those are just a few of the combinations! Sailors are encouraged to explore the full race schedule and plan their ultimate RS Games experience. More information is available in the Notice of Race.

More than racing: The RS Games ashore

As with all RS events, the onshore atmosphere is just as important as the racing. The RS Games 2026 will feature opening ceremonies, parties, and prize-giving celebrations throughout the event. Whether attending for a few days or the full 10 days, sailors will find plenty of opportunities to connect, celebrate, and enjoy the RS spirit.

A highlight for RS sailors will be an invitational evening aboard the Verein Rettet die Passat, a stunning tall ship moored in the heart of Travemünde, offering a truly special social experience.

RS Fleet hubs across Travemünde

Each RS fleet will have dedicated hubs across the venue:

  • RS Tera, RS Feva and RS500 fleets will be based at Priwall, launching directly from the beach beside the sand dunes.
  • RS Aero 5, 6, 7 and 9 fleets will use Grünstrand Park, a beachfront dinghy park next to the famous promenade filled with food, music and stalls.
  • The RS Venture Connect fleet will be located at Passathafen Harbour, with accessible facilities, while the RS21 fleet will be opposite at Area 4a - Tornadowiese.
  • The wider RS family - RS100, RS200, RS400, RS700, RS800 and RS Vareo - will be based together at Tornadowiese.
