Craftinsure Supernova Northern Traveller Series at Ripon Sailing Club

Ripon Sailing Club welcomed 11 visitors for the Open with rain, a total lack of wind and a chill in the air despite what had been a reasonable forecast. Undeterred, the Race Officer, Bernard Clark, after a 30 minute delay for a little breeze to blow, set a course and off we went.

Since the event was shared with the Streakers who started first, there were pathfinders to follow. The leaders disappeared off into the distance as leaders do, but from the middle of the fleet there was plenty of close racing and place changing.

After a substantial lunch and a warm up, the wind picked up and turned quite gusty leading to one or two capsizes.

With the forecast suggesting the wind would continue to strengthen, the fleet lost a couple of competitors but in fact it dropped and gave us the best race of the day.

Ripon was delighted to welcome so many visitors and we hope to make this an annual event.
