The 2026 Winter Interclub Series concludes this Sunday with its final round at Hunters Hill Sailing Club, bringing together 120 Optimist sailors from across Sydney for one of the largest junior sailing events of the winter season.

For more than 60 years, Hunters Hill Sailing Club has introduced generations of young sailors to the sport. Situated on the Parramatta River, the club has earned a reputation as one of Sydney's leading volunteer-run sailing clubs, with its success built on the dedication of members, volunteers and families.

The Winter Interclub Series has become a key part of the junior sailing calendar, providing regular racing that helps young sailors develop their skills, confidence and sportsmanship in a fun, safe and affordable environment.

Sunday's racing will be conducted across three fleets:

  • Optimist Open Fleet

  • Optimist Intermediate Fleet

  • Optimist Green Fleet
The series is delivered through the collaboration of:
  • Hunters Hill Sailing Club

  • Woollahra Sailing Club

  • Royal Sydney Yacht Squadron

This partnership has created a strong volunteer-based model that shares race management, safety resources and coaching support while providing consistent racing opportunities throughout the winter season.

The final round marks the culmination of another successful Winter Interclub Series and reflects the continued strength and growth of Optimist sailing across Sydney. The organising clubs extend their sincere thanks to the volunteers, race officials, coaches, parents and sailors whose commitment and enthusiasm have made the series possible.

The organisers also acknowledge the generous support of the series sponsors: NB Sailsports, BoatCrewGear.com, Rooster, Vaikobi, White Bay 6 Marine Park, Ronstan and North Sails. Their ongoing support helps create valuable opportunities for young sailors and contributes to the continued success of junior sailing across New South Wales.
