Pathfinder Homes B14 National Championship 2026 at Mumbles Yacht Club - Day 2

With a much anticipated sea breeze and beautiful flat water, the fleet were eager to get started, with the hope of 4 races.

Race 1 of the day (race 2 of the series), Mark Barnes and Jack Kilburn, Seavolution lead the race at all marks with the rest of the fleet playing snakes and ladders. Loads of shifts and patchy wind provided interesting tactics.

Race 2, Nick Craig and Pete Gray, Harken lead to windward mark closely followed by Ben Cutler-Sharp and Tesni King, Ceto. With Seavolution and Paul Roberts & Lucy Loughton, Squirrel chasing them down. The bottom gate consisted of 6 boats coming in within 50m of each other to provide an interesting tactical final upwind. Harken wins with Squirrel just behind.

Race 3, Ceto went to the port lay-line whilst the others played the shifts up the middle. Seavolution rounded first with Ceto closely behind, with a great hoist and early gybe, Ceto lead the race to the gate and went on to take the win.

Race 4, Harken lead at the first mark with Seavolution closely followed. Harken and Squirrel went right on the final beat with Seavolution choosing the left hand side of the course. All 3 boats rounded the top mark within a boat length, Seavolution slightly ahead. Some quick gybing downwind, Squirrel took the win with Harken closely behind.

Day 2 of the Pathfinder Homes Nationals provided 4 different winners, showing how close racing is at these championships.

Seavolution and Harken enter the final day on equal points, closely followed by Squirrel.
