Dear Recipient Name

Last week in Perhaps we need to... I got so carried away talking about Marina Del Ray on the South East corner of Lombok, that I completely forgot to add an important piece of the Indonesian equation. I felt a bit like Hayao Miyazaki had indeed taken the opportunity to have me Spirited Away to another locale on the space/time continuum.

Anyway, none of it changes the fact that perhaps we do really indeed need to have a much closer look, for Lombok is clearly making progress! What occurred was that I did not mention that it was Medana Bay Marina that had installed the hydraulic trailer for haul outs.

Now Medana Bay is actually on the North East corner of Lombok, right near the famous Gili Islands (yes I know that Gili is Indonesian for island, so that actually says "Island Islands"), which I had been to 25 years ago, and had a real wow of a time. I even made the effort to climb Mount Rinjani on Lombok, and then run down it. So please excuse me for the indulgence whilst I wondered off back in time.

To bring us all back into line, I made contact with Greg Butchart, who had supplied the hydraulic trailer, to learn all about it: "Medana Bay Marina is proud to announce that they are the first marina with a yacht haul out facility in Indonesia. The Dutch manufactured Roodberg HBC38 hydraulic haul out trailer with 38-tonne and 2m draft capacity, is the first of its kind in Indonesia. Prior to Medana Bay becoming operational, there were no marinas with a facility for keeled yachts to be hauled out between Darwin and Singapore."

"With the addition of this new facility, yachts will now be able to undergo a variety of maintenance works, including painting, body works, repairs and hard stand docking. So far we have successfully hauled out two monohulls in December. Medana Bay Marina is ready and excited to welcome more yachts for haul out."

"Hosting the Sail Indonesia Rally since 2009, the marina is fully equipped to provide all yachting services and mooring facilities. In addition to a slipway, and haul out facility, the marina also has 15 moorings, six serviced berths with metered water and electricity. Services such as refuelling, boat cleaning, boat repairs, LPG refills, and long term mooring facilities are also available."

Medana themselves added, "The Marina also includes a beautiful hotel, beach side restaurant, and function hall, which are all available for an easy and comfortable stay. The family-run business, and the welcoming staff, is proud to boast family friendly service. You will be more than our guest, you will be our family. For more information on how to book your boat to be hauled out call Soraya on +62 877 65 859 666, or email Medana Bay.

Now Multihull Solutions are having another of their popular Gold Coast Multihull Boat Show and Open Days on March 23, 2019. They feature a range of used boats from many a good designer/builder, and you can certainly talk about something new, such as the Fountaine Pajot Astrea 42, which you can see in our video of this terrific and award winning cat.

Multihull Solutions are also having a range of guest speakers too. Scanning through them, I saw Chris Tilley's name. Hailing from St John in New Brunswick, Canada, Chris has attended many, many shows in the last few years, as a result of his role with Pantaenius Sail and Motor Yacht Insurance.

So I grabbed the chance to find out what he would be talking about, to which Tilley responded, "Unpacking Insurance - Named Storm Events, to international and offshore cruising coverage." As I say, Chris has met many, many people at all the shows he's attended, and he added, "I would be happy to meet and talk to anyone in further detail afterwards should they have any questions. It has been great working closely with Multihull Solutions over the years, so I know there will be plenty of people coming to the expo and the seminars."

Finally then, special holiday greetings to all, and thank you very much for reading and making Sail-World so popular in 2018. We will be here throughout the break, so do keep safe, well, and enjoy all your time whether afloat, or planning the escape in front of a fire.
