Product of the Week- Jonbuoy Recovery Module for MOB situations

by Sail-World Cruising on 28 Oct 2012
Mk 5 Jonbuoy demonstration SW

Just introduced this year, the unique Jonbuoy Recovery Module MK5, mounted on a vessels pushpit packs neatly into a small attractive case. The amazing thing about it, though, is that while it meets Royal Ocean Racing Club regulations, it can replace not only a cumbersome horseshoe lifebuoy but also a drogue, lifebuoy light and danbuoy.

The design encorporates an inflatable one man raft and danbuoy signal with a deep keel that rapidly fills with seawater ballast. This innovative designed maintains stability and prevents the raft from drifting or being blown away in adverse conditions.

Once alongside a halyard or lifting strop can be attached enabling the raft and casualty (inside) to be lifted back on board safely and effectively, even by just one person.

The module can be deployed by one person with a simple pull of the launching lever. The raft is automatically projected out behind the vessel and inflates in seconds.

Constructed with a high intensity fluorescent yellow nylon outer shell and a polyurethene welded inner bladder. The raft is fitted with SOLAS approved retro reflective tapes, a whistle, SOLAS approved flashing marker light and a SOLAS approved inflation cylinder and firing head.

Pushpit Casing Dimensions: 390 x 350 x 135mm
Inflated raft base dimensions: 1m x 1m
Total Weight in Pushpit Case: 9kg
