World ARC enjoying Colombia

2017-18 World ARC - Fleet enjoying Colombia World Cruising Club
After a first Welcome Party at Marina Santa Marta on Friday, Saturday World ARC participants visited Bahia Concha where they enjoyed a Colombian Beach BBQ surrounded by the natural beauty of Tayrona National Park. The tour was organised by Marina Santa Marta in conjunction with World Cruising Club.

The foothills of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the highest coastal mountain in the world, sink into the sea like fingers of a giant hand forming bays and coves of exceptional beauty; one of these is Bahia Concha. The coastline is marked by white sandy beaches fringed by rocky atolls, mangroves, and forests, all bathed in the clear waters of the Caribbean Sea.

The venue was close to an area of shady trees and was a perfect spot to spend a day swimming in the cool waters of the Caribbean Sea, playing beach games whilst relaxing with glasses of rum and bottles of ice cold beer in hand.

Lunch was a traditional Colombia BBQ with a selection of grilled meats served to the participants on round tables set in the shade behind the beach. A fantastic afternoon was spent swimming, eating, drinking, swapping sailing stories and relaxing in the warm sunshine. Always Saturday at noon Forget Me Not, the last boat, arrived safely in Santa Marta Marina.

Yesterday the World ARC 2017-18 visited FUNDEHUMAC - a foundation where they help poor disadvantaged children who are unknown, ignored and do not have access to education. The crew had a chance to hear many of the children talk about their dreams and how grateful they are for the opportunities Alba Lucia and Haroldo from the foundation have given them. World Cruising Club is proud to support this foundation for the third year.

The fleet is now enjoying Colombia and preparing their boats for the next leg to Panama.
