Wally adds the beautiful mega sailer Wally 145 to its order book: 44 meters of performance, comfort and style developed for an experienced yachtsman with the German Frers naval architecture.

“The new Wally 145 is the perfect yacht to enjoy sailing round the world” says Luca Bassani, Wally founder and president, “She epitomizes our credo of uncompromised performance combined with timeless appeal and providing the owners with the pleasure of truly sailing in any wind condition, from the very light to the strong airs, in complete comfort.” With this latest creation, the Monegasque-brand confirms its leadership in yachting innovation.

Naval architecture
The proven Wally hallmarks and the Frers naval architecture produced a mega yacht boasting all the amenities of a round the world cruiser of this size yet capable of extraordinary performances.

“The new Wally 145 has been created for a distinguished, knowledgeable, person who really enjoys driving a sensitive, well balanced, pleasant and fast sailing yacht, while cruising with his family but also, and most important, while racing around the cans.” explains German Frers “The initial brief was for a larger yacht and contrary to the norm, the new design decreased in size and got simpler during the design process, in search of agility, speed and a closer vicinity to the sea and the elements. Extensive research was conducted in order to get the best performance while striving to produce the lightest weight within its specifications, a pleasant and ample interior, three different and separate deck areas and a very sophisticated sail handling system”.

“Her sail area/displacement ratio is much higher than that of any other mega yacht of this category, resulting fast even in just 6 knots of wind” confirms Bassani “At the same time, in strong winds she is very stable and powerful thanks to the hull shape and to the lifting keel lowering the bulb down to over 7 meters.”

The Wally 145 indeed combines huge volumes and a light displacement of only 171 tons, nearly 100 tons lighter than any similar mega yacht!, thanks to the latest carbon fiber building technology, the naval architecture and the state-of-the-art system development and engineering.

Propulsion system
The main characteristic is the hybrid propulsion uniquely based on DC Bus and lithium batteries to run the mega yacht systems in silent mode, providing a full night autonomy with the air conditioning and all the auxiliary services running!

The bow and stern thrusters together with the electrical engines connected on the twin retractable shafts, allow to run all the yacht operations in silent mode including the Dynamic Positioning System and the standard manoeuvres.

As a result, the entire system provides for managing the yacht with Zero emission and in complete silence enhancing the comfort when sailing in light airs, avoiding pollution of protected areas and immaculate environments, as well as getting into ports with no diesel engine assistance.

Under power, the yacht is capable of reaching the exceptional cruising speed of 15 knots.

Deck layout
The fast and magnificent mega cruiser introduces an innovative layout that is a further development of the Wally outside-inside living concept firstly introduced in 1998 with Tiketitan.
The main saloon and the social cockpits are on the same level, with no steps in between, enhancing the distinguished Wally style, safety and comfort.

Additionally, the deck features two social cockpits: one sheltered and one en plein air.

“An absolute world’s first of our 44-meter is the third cockpit incorporated aft in the lower deck, at the master suite’s level” explains Luca Bassani “ This new cockpit is reserved to the owners, who can enjoy the outside in complete privacy.”

Interiors
The interiors, developed by Wally with Droulers Architects and Studio Mario Sculli, feature the large owners’ area with two queen size beds, his and hers en-suites (one with bath tub), office, and double walk-in wardrobes.
The guest accommodation is for up to six people in two cabins with twin beds and one pullman.

The salon is amidships over the engine room, seating 8-10 guests and incorporating the navigation station to the forward starboard side. The salon is directly connected to the two deck social cockpits turning the area in a huge living space.

The service and crew area is forward with the galley and crew mess and four crew double cabins with en-suites.

Construction
The Wally 145 is currently under construction in the new shipyard set up by Persico Marine in Massa Carrara, Italy, originated from the recent strategic partnership with Wally.

It’s a unique worldwide facility dedicated to the advanced composite construction of mega cruisers: “We are very proud of this collaboration that leverages the Wally know-know developed in over 20 years of experience in light weight building technology and system engineering, and our renown leading edge quality in high performance construction.” declares Marcello Persico, CEO of Persico Marine. “We are sure that this mega yacht will raise the bar of the yachting industry and is the start of a successful story.”
The launch date is scheduled for May 2019.

The Wally portfolio of yachts under construction includes two more sailing yachts, the wallycento#4 and the Wally 93 to be launched in July 2017 and in spring 2018 respectively, the fifth unit of the 27 Wallyace, and two 52 wallypowers. Additionally, units of the new Wallytender X are under way.
