SSK (Stockholm Sailing Club) was founded on August 26, 1901. Our home waters are in Lake Mälaren. Our main harbor is located in Fredhäll (near the Tranebergsbron bridge) on the island of Kungsholmen, and we also have a harbor adjacent to our boatyard in Ulvsundasjön. The club currently has around 170 registered sailboats and approximately 500 members.
At the Fredhäll harbor, the club’s headquarters is located in the clubhouse Sigridsberg. Additionally, the club has an outpost harbor at Löknäsviken on the island of Värmdö, offering 58 berths.
The club is run on a voluntary basis by a board of directors, supported by several committees and volunteers. These committees include Sailing, Harbors, Boatyard, Islands & Clubhouse, Juniors, and Events. We do not have a permanent office or staff; all administrative duties are handled internally by the board.
The Racing Committee organizes several internal and open regattas each year. We hold 8 Wednesday evening races (4 in spring and 4 in autumn) near the Fredhäll harbor, 4 distance races in Lake Mälaren and the Stockholm archipelago, and 2 open regattas in Lake Mälaren.
The club owns two private islands for members. One is Västra Delsholmen, located in Saltsjön, just north of Kanholmsfjärden. This island features a dock, toilet facilities, and a wood-fired sauna. The other is Röskär, situated in Lake Mälaren south of Ekerö, and includes a clubhouse, caretaker’s cabin, wood-fired sauna, and toilets.
