British Virgin Islands: Police warn boaters about a rise in dinghy theft

The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force is warning boaters to be diligent about securely locking up dinghies and motors with chains and cable locks after an increase in theft was reported in late January, early February 2019.
In a brief press release, the police state that thefts have been occurring in and around marinas at night. The police go on encourage marinas, "to fast-track the restoration of closed-circuit cameras and to monitor all activities in or around their establishments to discourage or, at least, minimise opportunistic theft."
Boat owners, people with information, or those who wish to report a theft can contact the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force at 311.
