Karver wins a Dame Award at Metstrade 2019

by Mélanie Bourdon 14 Dec 2019 15:39 UTC

Karver Systems has won a double DAME Award in its category: Hardware - Rigging - Sail, at the international fair of the METSTRADE equipment manufacturers in Amsterdam with two products: The KCW45 Compact winch and the KWH carbon winch handle.

Karver has been a long-time participant at METS, key international show and is nominated every year for its creation in the DAME Award's design and innovation competition. For the second time since its creation, Karver wins this prestigious award for two products: the KCW45 Compact Winch and the KWH Carbon Winch handle.

Marin Clausin, Karver CEO talks about it: "In our field, the Dame Award is the equivalent of an Oscar for Cinema: a real recognition of the profession. There are many other innovation competitions but this one is the most significant and the most prestigious. This is the first time we have put forward a product designed for all sailors (cruisers or racers) and where innovation makes sailing easier and more fun. We have won this prize because in addition to all the technical benefits, there are real financial and ecological advantages. "

The Award is so beautiful as it rewards two complementary products instead of one usually. It is also an opportunity to highlight the French know-how: It had been several years since the award had not been awarded to a French company

Tanguy de Larminat, Managing Director, adds, "This award first of all rewards the constancy and commitment of all our employees. I repeat it here: Congratulations and thank you. We also have a thought for the former Pontos team that is at the origin of the concept of the Compact winch and that we finalized in 6 months.

Many manufacturers are looking for products that make their yachts easier and more fun to use. The Compact Winch is 100% in this spirit and this award gives strength to our choices. The certainties are sometimes strongly anchored: A winch is a winch and they do not imagine how it could create a real added value for their customers."

Christophe Quesnel, export salesman (formerly Pontos and Lewmar) talks about the handle: "The first innovation of this handle is to have been able to evolve a product that seemed completely frozen. The Pontos team also sought to treat this subject but it is finally Marin (CEO and designer of the majority of Karver products) who has found new development and makes it really ergonomic, aesthetic and high performance. I finally appreciated that this handle is proposed to a same level of price as our direct competitors. We like to play the trouble maker role in this area: Lower prices when we can, make accessible high-performance products.

Alois Kerduel, France Sales and racer, adds: "It is a very beautiful object and I have just ordered a veneer version with the name of the boat, I race on! But it is most of all a very powerful handle. I have done many trials at several regattas and technical choices give this handle excellent performances. Racers will appreciate and find a new competitive weapon".

Both products are visible at Karver's new showroom in Lorient La Base and also at the Karver stands during Paris and Dusseldorf boat shows. They will be available for you in Karver's reseller network.
