In the middle of the busy schedule of events surrounding the America’s Cup, Auckland will once again play host to the High Performance Yacht Design conference.

Since the initial event in 2001, the series of HPYD conferences have provided a platform for academics and researchers around the globe to share technological advancements in the fields of yacht design and engineering. Papers presented at conferences such as these are the building blocks which lead to ground-breaking phenomena such as foiling and wing sails.

For this year’s HPYD7, the format will change slightly to a predominantly online conference due to COVID restrictions. A comprehensive range of papers will once again attract delegates from a wide range of countries, and the organisers expect the event to be as popular as ever.

In addition to the technical sessions, a free public event will be held. This will be a chance to find out more about the technology used in the America’s Cup. A panel of the top designers from each team will discuss their quest for the ultimate performance, and take your questions on a wide range of topics. Be sure to register as this event will fill up quickly!

What: America’s Cup technology free public event Where: Maritime Museum, Viaduct Harbour, Auckland When: Thursday 11 th March 2021, doors open 7.15pm for 7.30pm start Tickets: www.hpyd.org.nz
