Evanescent breeze yesterday on Lake Garda, where, thanks to the joint organization with Melges Europe, Fraglia Vela Malcesine hosted the third event of the Melges World League international circuit.

The conditions, light at the limit of racing conditions, prevented the completion of the series in the Melges 20 Class, where the Race Committee has nevertheless used the utmost effort to try to start two races, one with a light Peler in the morning, and one in the afternoon with Ora from the South.

The Melges 14 were more active, taking advantage of the light afternoon breeze to complete a regatta.

The rankings of the third stage of the Melges World League therefore crystallize with the provisional results of yesterday: in the Melges 20 class, which closes the event with four completed races, the victory is Fremito d'Arja by Dario Levi, assisted in tactics by Stefano Cherin. The rest of the podium bears the colors of Russia, with Nika in second place and Russian Bogatyrs with the bronze medal.

The results of event of Malcesine strengthen Fremito d'Arja's control over the seasonal ranking of the Melges World League: the crew of Dario Levi will have to exploit the events in Sardinia to defend the leadership and try to contain the attacks of Russian Bogatyrs, among the main pursuers and second in the standings after the first three seasonal events.

On the Corinthian podium, B.Lex by Benedetta Iovane, with Ettore Botticini at tactics, climbs on the first step, followed by Neodent by Marco Giannini and Kindako by Stefano Visintin.

In the Melges 14 Class, the victory in today's only race went to Davide Di Maio, who with an impeccable scoreline of 1-4-1-1 puts the seal on the Garda Lake Rally, leaving behind Luca Angelini, second, and Mario Aquila, third.

Leaving Garda Lake, the Melges World League will return to the Mediterranean, for a series of events in the enchanting location of Sardinia: from 27 to 30 August the Melges 20 and Melges 32 fleets will be involved in the Sardinia Rally of Villasimius, and then move on to the main event of the 2021 season. In fact, the Melges 32 World Championship is scheduled between 1st and 4th September 2021, in the same location, while from 22nd to 25th September the Melges 20 continental title will be awarded in Puntaldia.

The Melges World League 2021 is supported by Helly Hansen, Quantum, North Sails e Garmin, oltre che dai technical partners Free Ride Cosmetics, Equilibra, Rigoni di Asiago, Revì, Acqua Cedea, Azienda Agricola il Ponte, Birrificio Petragnolo, Dai Dai, Pasta Berruto, La Bellanotte, Sabatini Gin, Caffè Toscano, FoodNess, LTH, Rifugio Lilla e le Formiche di Vettori.
