Today, OCC member Dustin Reynolds completed his 7-year solo circumnavigation, becoming the first dual amputee to circumnavigate.
Dustin crossed his outbound track near south point Kona last night and arrived in Kona this morning after a 20hr beat to a welcome from locals and friends who flew to Kona for his arrival. Several of us were fortunate enough to sail out and escort Dustin into the harbour this morning.
Thanks to captain Tim of Hawai'i Sailing Charters for taking us out to meet Dustin. Dustin was awarded the OCC Seamanship Award in 2018. In 2020, he was awarded an OCC Challenge Grant to help cover expenses for his last leg home through the Panama Canal and the Galapagos Islands.
