Sea Mercy is recipient of inaugural OCC Environment Award

"It is the hundreds of volunteers and vessel captains who work with Sea Mercy who make this award possible."
Along with Sea Mercy’s motto of Sailing with a Greater Purpose, our primary goal with all of our programs is "To do no harm while doing good". To achieve this, we’ve built our disaster response programs around the use of portable solar- and generator-driven desalination units and reusable water filters, all delivered by our volunteer fleet of private yachts.
This approach has not only reduced and/or eliminated the use of plastic water bottles where Sea Mercy programs operate, but it also allows us to deliver clean drinking water to stricken communities within days of a disaster and continue to generate water for them until the need passes. Our deepest and sincere thanks to the Ocean Cruising Club for this recognition, and the international yachting community members for their support.
Although it is a great honour for my wife and me to be the first to receive this award from the Ocean Cruising Club, it is the hundreds of volunteers and vessel captains who work with Sea Mercy who make this award possible.
