Ovington Boats is one of the most successful small boat building businesses in the world, specialising in the high-performance dinghy market.

Founded by Dave Ovington in 1975, Ovington Boats started off building wooden boats and in particular, race-winning Enterprises. With the search for lighter boats, Dave progressed to using glass fibre and developed the application of vacuum bagged foam sandwich construction. In March 2005, Dave sadly passed away, but his legacy lives on in the business and the people who have worked at Ovington Boats for many years.

Working with Epoxy

Ovington Boats work with PRO-SET® Epoxy for all hull, deck and major structural work on their dinghies. They also rely on technical input and support team from our team as suppliers.

Here are some of the most popular boats that Ovington have partnered with PRO-SET Epoxy on:

505 Dinghy
A double-handed dinghy raced worldwide, the Ovington 505 incorporates a high-performance hull design with a powerful sail plan and single trapeze. Developed entirely by the Ovington Boats design team, drawing upon the knowledge and experience of Holger Jess - one of the most prolific 505 sailors of a generation.

Flying Fifteen
The Flying 15 is a 2 person, planing keelboat that is sailed worldwide. The F15 World Championships have been won by Ovington's own Chris Turner, sailing with Graham Vials. Over the years, Ovington Boats have designed and built a new deck mould to improve the ergonomics and simplify fit-out; the Flying 15 comes with a carbon hull upgrade which makes the boat stiffer for longer.

Phantom Dinghy
A powerful, lightweight dinghy, the Phantom has evolved since its inception in 1971. Now a refined single-hander with a stiff, lightweight epoxy hull with carbon spars, the powerful sailplan drives the boat well in light conditions and the adjustable rig allows efficient depowering when the breeze is up.

Musto Skiff
The Musto Skiff is a high-performance, single-handed trapeze dinghy. With an annual ISAF World Championship, fielding over 100 boats. The lightweight hull is easily driven and powered by a laminate mainsail and asymmetric spinnaker.

The PRO-SET Epoxy team will be at the RYA Dinghy & Watersports Show from 26th-27th February in Farnborough, UK. Stop by stand F60 and get advice on your latest and upcoming projects and watch our 'epoxy best practice' demos live from the stand.
