Ramsgate Week 2024 at the Royal Temple Yacht Club - Day 5

by Karen Cox 17 Aug 2024 19:50 UTC 11-16 August 2024

Ramsgate Week concluded with the prestigious Gold Cup. All classes, apart from Class 7, sailed out to a Committee Boat start in very calm seas and light airs.

A 12.5 NM course was set including three windward leeward legs which kept the cruisers busy. The Committee Boat end of the line was hotly contested causing one competitor to go around again. The fleet sailed in conditions demanding high concentration.

The home leg, under spinnaker in bright sunshine, rounded off a terrific Ramsgate Week and with new names going on the trophies is excellent for the competition.

Class 7 were sent off on a 7.5 NM course towards Broadstairs from the Race Hut. A competitive race with no retirements; also the perfect end to Ramsgate Week.
