Now the Qld State election is behind us, BIA is engaging with the Qld Government to discuss a range of priority matters which include the commercial marina leases (CML).

BIA pressed for a review of the policy in 2020 to better reflect industry priorities such as sustainable rents, security of tenure, incentives for private investment and benefits of the destination model. A follow-up meeting with the MSQ leadership and Minister ended with an agreement to for such a review. It is understood that review is near complete.

BIA is liaising with the Minister responsible to set up a meeting and will be reinforcing industry priorities which are outlined in a Qld Commercial Marina Lease policy paper which is available here.

Other priorities to be put to the Qld Government from as early as meetings scheduled for next week include infrastructure, access, marine jobs and participation, with the infrastructure theme including a call for urgent action to address marine opportunities for the 2032 Brisbane Olympic Games.
