Vendée Globe: Clarisse Crémer will finish tonight but storm forces her to divert to La Rochelle

The finish is just around the corner for Clarisse, who is expected to cross the Vendée Globe storm finish line this Sunday evening between 9pm and midnight.
However, the skipper of L'Occitane en Provence will not be able to use the channel in Les Sables-d'Olonne or moor at the pontoons in Port Olona.
This is due to a violent weather, now named Hermina, which has officially been classified as a storm. It is currently hitting the French Atlantic coast, with gusts exceeding 130 km/h and waves up to 10 metres expected. These conditions mean the legendary channel in Les Sables-d'Olonne cannot be used.
With the safety of Clarisse and her boat is the priority of the L'Occitane Sailing Team and the race organisers, it was decided to head for the port of La Rochelle, where the less unfavourable sea conditions will enable them to take shelter. Depending on the tide, access will be available until 4.30am or from 2.30pm tomorrow, Monday 27 January.
