The Sailjuice Challenge - the summer travellers' handicap racing series for almost every kind of small boat in the UK - moves to Scotland for two events in September.

  • Loch Lomond Challenge, 6/7 September
  • Dalgety Challenge, 27/28 September

To join in the end-of-summer fun at Loch Lomond and Dalgety Bay, enter now!

WHO SHALL BE KING IN THE NORTH?

After the two events on Ullswater it's the VX One of Tony Lewis and Andrew Cutting who hold the overall lead ahead of Brendan Lynch and Ellen Clark's RS200 in second and the 49er of Matty and James Lyons in third overall.

There's a whole range of boats in the current top 20, from the big VX One sportsboats to the ILCA 4 of Olivia Dembinska. But everything could change in Scotland.

Overall Results after two events

THE BONNIE BANKS O' LOCH LOMOND

Already 30 boats are entered for Loch Lomond with a wide array of classes including Hadron H2, ILCAs of varying types, as well as Toppers, Supernova and a Shadow X.

There's also an array of asymmetrics including 4000, RS200, RS400, as well as 29er, Musto Skiffs and even a Shadow X catamaran and VX One sportsboat. Three RS Feva XLs should enjoy a good battle while the low-rider International Moths are into double digits.

Loch Lomond Sailing Club is just under an hour's drive from Glasgow, and Dalgety Bay Sailing Club is 45 minutes' drive across the Forth Bridge from Edinburgh. In other words, these events are a great opportunity to visit Scotland's great cities if you want to make a long weekend of it. And if you've never sailed at these spectacular venues, take a look online at their beautiful surroundings.

These events in Scotland follow on from the picturesque Ullswater Lake in the Lake District, where the Magic Marine Daffodil Regatta and the 230-boat Lord Birkett Trophy took place earlier in the summer.

WHAT IS THE SAILJUICE CHALLENGE?

Following on from 16 successful seasons of the Selden Sailjuice Winter Series, the aim of the Sailjuice Challenge is to provide good handicap racing across a series throughout the year, including the busy summer months. The organisers of the Sailjuice Challenge are working with existing events to help bring additional publicity and increase participation.

More events are planned for the Sailjuice Challenge in 2026. For further information about how to get involved, either as a participating Class or a host Sailing Club, please contact
