Just getting nominated for European Boat of the Year is exciting for any boat builder or designer, and this week we introduce one of the boats nominated for this year's family cruiser category, the Allures 39.9.

Allures 39.9 is the new model from the Normandy based shipyard Allures Yachting and you can watch its performance here:

The jury, composed of experts from 11 important and influential European nautical magazines, picked out Allures 39.9 as one of the five most interesting and most promising boats in this hotly contested category.

This nomination is a tribute to the teams involved in the design and construction of this boat. The Allures 39.9 is a centreboard yacht with rounded aluminium hull and composite deck that stylishly combines safety, comfort and performance.

At the end of the Southampton Boat Show in late September, the Allures 39.9 will host the jury on board to carry out any inspection and navigation assessments. The election results will be announced in January 2014, during the Düsseldorf boat show.

Allures Yachting specialises in the construction of ocean-going, centreboard yachts with formed aluminium hull and will be presenting this new model both French and international boat shows during the Autumn.

True to the concept successfully launched by its makers, the Allures 39.9 is a centreboard yacht with formed aluminium hull for safety, and composite deck for performance and comfort.

The firm Berret-Racoupeau Yacht Design, in collaboration with the design office of Allures Yachting, have designed the powerful and balanced yacht, comfortable and harmonious, capable of sailing around the world with a small crew.

As little brother to the Allures 45, it benefits from its innovations and carries them even further, with a novel deck layout, original design, and a bridge made with injection technology for greater respect for the environment.

Compared to the Allures 40 which preceded it, this new model brings major advances. The Allures 39.9 is more powerful with a hull longer by two feet on the waterline and also wider at the beam.

About nine months of studies have been necessary for Racoupeau Yacht Design team and the Allures engineering department to develop the design of this new model.

The design, they say, has been built to strict specifications driven by many round-the-world sailors' feedback. She has all the characteristics of a true ocean-cruising sailing yacht, strong and resilient.

In line with the innovative design philosophy, she has a lifting-keel, an aluminum hull for safety and a composite deck for performance and comfort. This means in her normal configuration she has a very shallow draft, ideal for snugging into shore and away from the wind when at anchor.

She also has twin helms, large lockers, technical room with light bunk, separate shower, dual chart table, swim platform lockers, light filled saloon.

Twin wheels steering system offers outstanding comfort in navigation and optimizes the circulation to the swim platform. The large technical room in which a workbench or a sea bunk can be installed allows the owners to set numerous equipment for ocean sailing (eg. generator, desalinater, diesel heating, machine washer, etc..). Finally the interiors offer a fresh and luminous style.

Draft: 1,06 / 2,75 m
