Five-minute job

by John Curnow on 17 May 2017
Multihulls are certainly part of the repertoire at Sydney City Marine Sydney City Marine http:/www.sydneycitymarine.com.au
As we know, there is no such thing as a five minute job with boats. However, when it comes to maintaining or modifying them, having your vessel attended to close by your own domicile is a good way to ensure you do not waste extra time and cost BY transferring it to another location. Also, if you got the job done at a competitive price right near your office, then you’d think to yourself that it was a win, win, for sure.

It gets no closer than Rozelle, and it is there that Sydney City Marine can look after your planing hull powerboat, displacement cruiser, sportsfisherman, and even superyacht. Many sailing yachts, whether racer or cruiser, are familiar with the facility, especially as a great deal of them actually got commissioned there after clearing customs into Australia. After all, who better to go to for repairs and maintenance than the very people who put your boat together in the first place?

So whether your craft is big or small, made from GRP, steel, timber, carbon, alloy, composite or a combination of these materials, SCM has the facilities and the staff to make it happen. On site marine mechanics, engineering, electricians, riggers, antifouling, painting and shipwright services can take of your boat’s needs. This is true no matter whether it is in and out for an annual spruce up, serious modification, cosmetic repairs or upgrades, re-powering, or preparation for taking on man’s oldest challenge in an offshore race or grand expedition to see the world.

Craig Boddington is SCM’s Recreational Project Manager, and Aaron Harpham is the Commercial Project Manager. They are there to ensure your 6 to 60m vessel is handled correctly, and to do that, they have a 45 tonne submersible trailer, a 100 tonne travelift with a seven metre beam capacity and also an 800 tonne shoplift.

The under cover facility at Rozelle also houses Australia’s largest climate controlled spray booth, and having a large footprint also means that they are very much able to separate the clean from the dirty! This of course was necessary to attain their ISO accreditation, which naturally extends to safety, as well. We’re not just talking about helmets and hi-vis vests that are available for all when on-site, but also to raising the standards of the marine service industry overall.

Those very standards can be measured if time really is of the essence to you. When you look at being lifted out, jet washed, sanded and re-sprayed with fresh antifoul in say three days, and all it took was a booking two weeks in advance. It means you can enjoy your boat one weekend, and then be out and back in time for a mid-week sail, summer twilight, or to entertain guests and clients later in the same week.

Sydney City Marine is right under the bridge for sure, but you can also speak with Brenton Fischer and Kym Fleet at the upcoming Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show. If you’re attending ASMEX, then SCM is sponsoring one of the morning teas, which is a good time to catch one of them. You could also catch them on the quay there, or at the Sydney International Boat Show in August.

So do ponder all of the information above, and then chat with Brenton or Kym to see why time really is the answer to it all when it comes to boats. Call 8572 7800 or visit http://www.sydneycitymarine.com.au to see why the right place for the job could take less than five minutes to discover.
