Viking 44 Open debuts with Delta 'T' Ventilation Viking Yacht Company
Ready to make its debut at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, 1–5 November, the much-anticipated 44 Open from Viking Yacht Company is poised to become the new standard for mid-sized sportfish boats.
Like all Vikings, it's a true offshore performer. And when it's time to throttle up and chase the bite, its twin diesels will deliver the raw power needed, due in part to Delta 'T' Systems' state-of-the-art complete engine room ventilation system.
'Viking Yachts are as renowned for their speed as their fishability,' said Chris Landry, Viking Yacht Company director of communications. 'We chose a Delta 'T' ventilation system because we knew it would keep pace with the demands of the 44 Open's high-performance propulsion package.'
Delta 'T' Systems engineers designed a ventilation system that begins with the company's innovative Moisture Eliminators to remove salt spray and water from the intake air. Two ignition-proof 22.9cm Lil' Champ Marine Axial Fans each deliver an impressive 20.8 CMM of air flow.
CE marked, they conform to SAE J1171, ISO 8846 and ISO 9097. The configuration is controlled by the next-generation DCT2 12/24 DC Fan Control System. It'll run four fans or blowers in two speeds, either manually or fully automatic. By optimizing the air flow of the 44 Open's common rail MAN I6 800 CRM diesels, an impressive 800 mhp is achieved per engine to deliver a cruising speed of 30 kts and a top end of 34.5–35 kts.
The 44 Open is an offshore angler's dream. Its massive cockpit with transom livewell, abundant tackle storage and a second-to-none centerline helm station are designed to maximize fishing efficiency. Family-friendly, the boat offers ample seating and the secure, solid at-sea platform that Viking is known for. Belowdecks is no less spectacular. The finest joinery and appointments surround a spacious salon and galley, enclosed head with separate shower stall, and master and guest staterooms.
For over 50 years, New Gretna, New Jersey-based Viking Yacht Company has built luxurious high-performance vessels that define the sportfish boat and yacht markets.
