Rally Control is currently on the island of San Cristobal and have just been contacted by the first boat Lunatix (X-Yachts Xp50), the first boat to cross the line here in the Galapagos islands. The World ARC fleet have crossed the equator and will be arriving to Puerto Baquerizo over the next few days. Once at anchor they will need to be checked in by various authorities and customs & immigration before being allowed to take a water taxi ashore to explore the beauty the island has to offer.

The town and bay really are pleasant, the main high street known as the "Malecon" runs along the waterfront. On the seaward side you can encounter hundreds of sea lions and lizards on the beaches, rocks and even crossing the roads and sleeping on benches. On the opposite side of the street you have all the shops and services the town has to offer. It is also possible to take a taxi up to the "Highlands" where you can witness giant tortoises grazing amongs other wildlife.

Once the boats have had time to experience San Cristobal they will continue their exploration of the Galapagos islands, continuing to the island of Isabella and Santa Cruz.
