The golden glow of mighty Mt. Yasur could be seen at sea from miles away as the World ARC fleet approached picturesque Port Resolution Bay and made landfall in Tanna, Vanuatu. As Blue Pearl crew member Brita remarked "who needs a lighthouse when you have a volcano to guide you in?" Over half of the fleet arrived Tuesday morning and were able to enjoy the awe inspiring view of one of the world's most active volcanoes as the sun rose.

Beneath a backdrop of lush vegetation, turquoise waters and black sand beaches our skippers took their tenders ashore to clear into the Vanuatu Islands in Tanna under special arrangement. By nightfall, all 20 boats that started the 450 NM journey west from Fiji had arrived and were cleared into the country. Vanuatu Customs clearance officials made a special visit to the Port Resolution Yacht Club providing our fleet a simple check in. Bankers were also on hand to facilitate currency exchange.

Mt Yasur sits on the south eastern section of the island Tanna. The World ARC fleet was able summit "The Old Man" and witness its incredible beauty and power. The trip up to the crater is through lush ferns and jungle which the fleet experienced in the back of local pick-up trucks. You cannot help but be in awe of Mother Nature as you climb the path to the crater rim- listening to the rumbling, roaring sounds and evidence of constant activity. It is quite a sight to witness the fiery magma explode into the sky and literally feel the ground rumble.

These are memories that will last a lifetime!
