After completing what turned out to be a very light wind leg from Darwin, the new Medana Bay Marina in Lombok started to fill with World ARC boats today as the first few yachts completed Leg 9 of the Rally.
The first to arrive was the German yacht Lunatix with Freddie, Frank and Inga onboard.
For many, this passage from Darwin to Indonesia has been windless and uneventful one, with a lot of time spent motoring rather than sailing, but the reward to this perseverance with the light wind conditions is the beautiful island of Lombok.
After the clearances in organized from the Marina, the participants gathered for an informal welcome at the Medana Marina Resort, where a typical meal of grilled fish or beef was served. The setting was perfect, with large tables close to the beach, enabling everyone to mix and enjoy being back together.
During the stopover participants greatly enjoyed exploring the island; many crews have been traveling inland, experiencing local culture and visiting some of the scenic highlights of this beautiful island on the organised "Lombok at a Glance Tour" organised by World Cruising Club and, for the more adventurous, independently.
