For the 11th consecutive year, Horizon Yachts has received a prestigious Taiwan Excellence Award.

Presented at the 2021 Taiwan Excellence Awards ceremony on 25 November, the new Horizon FD102, the latest and largest yacht in the highly acclaimed FD Series, was also recognized with the Taiwan Excellence Gold Award. The FD102 is the twelfth Horizon yacht model to be honored with a Taiwan Excellence Award and the fifth to receive a Gold Award.

Established by Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs in 1993, the Taiwan Excellence Awards recognize innovation and excellence across a variety of industries. Held annually, the awards are presented to nominees who surpass a rigorous selection process that analyzes four major areas including R&D, Design, Quality and Marketing. The qualifying product must also offer Innovative Value while satisfying the key criterion of being Made in Taiwan. Gold Awards are presented to the best in class of each Taiwan Excellence Award category.

The FD102 is the largest yacht in the high-volume, Cor D. Rover-designed FD Series. Horizon launched three FD102 yachts in 2020, each embodying varying degrees of customization for their owners. Hull Two, the FD102 TÒ-KALÒN, was the nominee and subsequent award recipient.

Designed to accommodate ten guests in five spacious staterooms, including a full-beam, on-deck master, the FD102 boasts a sleek profile that belies her impressive interior volume. Aboard TÒ-KALÒN, the owners requested a semi-enclosed flybridge with sliding glass windows that allows the majority of the upper deck to function as an indoor/outdoor space. Aft of the fully enclosed pilothouse, a U-shaped seating area opposite a dayhead and full bar with fixed stools is protected from the elements. A custom, convertible dining table seats up to 12, and a Jacuzzi tub for six with a bar counter and fixed stools can be shaded by an electric retractable awning. The owners opted to situate the tender on the bow and remove the starboard staircase from the aft deck to further maximize this space.

On the main deck, the spacious aft deck features a pleasant seating area, and a bar, storage and television area occupies the space of the second staircase to the upper deck. The owners specified curved opening glass doors to the main salon and positioned the interior dining area aft to take advantage of the views and al fresco ambience. Here, the round table for six can be extended to seat ten beneath a custom circular light fixture. The main salon and large galley forward also feature owner customizations, as does the on-deck master stateroom, which boasts a his-and-hers en suite.

One of the hallmarks of the Horizon FD Series is the High Performance Piercing Bow and hull design, which bring stability and comfort to this spacious vessel. Each Horizon yacht hull is constructed with state-of-the-art advanced composites infusion technology and aerospace-grade testing processes. The FD102 was undoubtedly recognized for its thoughtful design, ability to incorporate owner customizations, and overall build quality while also pioneering a successful high-volume model design within the global yachting industry.
