ARC Europe - Wrapping up in Bermuda

by World Cruising Club 20 May 2021 19:52 UTC

With all the ARC Europe participants testing negative for COVID-19 on arrival in Bermuda and on day 4, the fleet has been released from quarantine and started to explore the beauties of the island as well as preparing for the re-start.

A couple of yachts have experienced some issues with their engines during the last miles of the passage from St Maarten to Bermuda which means some repairs are being carried out to have everyone ready for the 1800NM ahead.

The Bermudian flagged Big Bear and Pivot have opted to depart to the Azores yesterday 19th May to try and keep with their crew changes and plans on the island of Faial.

To celebrate ARC Europe's 30th edition in Bermuda, World Cruising Club hosted a crew dinner with the national drink made of dark rum and ginger beer, a Dark 'n Stormy. Cheers to all and a big thank you to the waterfront restaurant The Wharf that welcomed and served everyone yesterday evening within the protocols in place on island. Thank you!

Today in preparation for Leg 2 of the Rally there will be a virtual Skippers Briefing by Andrew Bishop with Chris Tibbs doing a weather analysis.

The start is scheduled for tomorrow, Friday 21st May at 1200 LT (UTC -3).
