Sunset cruise to welcome ARC January

by World Cruising Club 3 Feb 2022 08:48 UTC

From one boat to another, Go Tango, an 80ft double decker catamaran was the venue for the ARC January welcome drinks. Organised by World Cruising Club Partners, Events Company Saint Lucia and The Saint Lucia Tourist Authority, the evening began from IGY Rodney Bay Marina sailing into the Lucian sunset out in the bay.

Participants were treated to an impressive display of energetic light dancers and athletic limbo acrobats. To great applause participants were encouraged to join in showing off their impressive moves. As the local rum flowed, delicious food was served and as the pace of the music quickened, the evening quickly became a huge success, and everyone greatly appreciated the chance to spend time together and share their Atlantic experiences.

Andrew Pickersgill, ARC January Event Manager, welcomed everyone saying "it is lovely to see so many of you here this evening and despite the lack of trade winds it is great to already welcome over 40% of the fleet here in Rodney Bay." Following on from Andrew's welcome Sean Devaux, General Manager of IGY Rodney Bay Marina thanked the fleet for coming to Saint Lucia and hopped that they Enjoyed their stay her in the island and that they would maximise their time to explore all thar Saint Lucia has to offer.

Speaking on behalf of the Saint Lucia Tourist Authority, Chairman, Thaddeus Antoine, thanked the participants and World Cruising Club for making Saint Lucia their destination and all the partners look forward to building this new event in future years to come.

Due to easier protocols on the water, participants were fortunate to enjoy the experience at this gathering. The programme of events for the ARC January 2022 fleet continues with the IGY Marina Managers welcome this evening on the docks where General Manager Sean Devaux will visit each boat with gifts. Tomorrow's programme includes a couple of interesting events being held on the green in the Marina. Firstly, a talk on sailing the Caribbean waters by legendary Chris Doyle and in the early evening a Bartenders' Demo will take place allowing participants to watch and taste local mixologists prepare some local tipples. Further events are planned for everyone to enjoy prior to the grand finale on Friday evening, the ARC January 2022 Prizegiving!
