World ARC - Time to leave this Mid-Indian Ocean Jewel

A great time was held by all at a BBQ by the anchorage yesterday evening - both the World ARC participants who arrived by sea and invited guests who live on Christmas Island.

The World ARC crews have been busy exploring this fascinating island with the valuable assistance from the Visitors Centre team and the local tour operator ‘Indian Ocean Experiences’.

The fleet was blessed by the calm winds over the mooring field, and everyone could relax ashore during a pleasant evening BBQ hosted by World Cruising Club.

It’s now time to start releasing lines and getting going. Christmas Island sits right on the rhumb line and almost equidistant between Lombok and Cocos (Keeling) Islands, so it is a very handy stop-off. The winds look good, and yachts are expected to start arriving in Cocos (Keeling) Islands in 3-4 days.

The World ARC stop in Christmas Island would not be possible without the support of the Christmas Island Tourism Association and Visitors Centre, the Australian Border Force and the Port Authorities. Thank you all for the memorable experience!
