The World ARC 2022-23 enjoying Grenada

Popularly known as BBC Beach, this amazingly calm bay of 400 yards of white sand, played backdrop to our glorious lazy beach day. We dined on delicious chicken roti and jerk fish tacos all washed down with ice cold Carib, the local beer and rich fruit juices. There was more than enough time to swim, stroll and even take an after-lunch nap under the sea almond trees.

On Wednesday morning, we were treated to a wonderful bus tour care of the Grenada Tourism Authority (GTA) where we visited Fort Frederick with magnificent views of St. George's and the surrounding coastline followed by a visit to the Tri Isle chocolate factory and gardens. Here we were gifted free chocolate bombons and tastes of the local cocoa and the ever-present Carib beer.

Recovering from our chocolate feast, we meandered our way up to one of the highest points on the island, the Grand Etang volcanic lake and surrounding Forest Reserve where we met the shy but extremely playful residents, the local Mona Monkeys.

Our final stop was the famous Annandale waterfall - a cool freshwater pond where many of us couldn't resist jumping in for a swim.

Our final dinner, held at the Victory Bar & Restaurant, was a lively event with the passing of the embellished "Sailors of the Lost ARC" jacket from Celtic Star to Amazing Grace and Chanto! And once the delicious buffet dinner was finished participants couldn't wait to get on the dance floor, with some seriously cool moves from Nakula and Celtic Star!

This morning, to complete the programme on the spice island of Grenada, Chris and Crystal from the Multihull Company gave a fascinating and informative two-hour talk on the dos and don'ts of sailing from Grenada up through the Grenadines to St Lucia. Now all the boats area ready to free cruising and enjoy those jewel islands and finally see those true-blue Caribbean waters. And because today is not just any Thursday, but Mark's (Ko Tangaroa) 60th Birthday - we had to celebrate with a delicious cake baked by Pete from Jubilate Mare.

Ko Tangaroa was the first yacht to set sail and the others will soon follow after enjoying a bit more of what Grenada has to offer. Next rendezvous will be on 12th April in Marigot Bay, St Lucia.
