ARC Bluewater Open Day set to inspire offshore sailors

Experienced bluewater yacht skippers and industry experts will gather to share their knowledge at the annual ARC Bluewater Open Day in June.

Returning as an in-person event after a three year break, this unique 'sailing get-together' will appeal to all cruising sailors looking for inspiration and advice on how to set-off on their own bluewater adventures. The free-to-attend one-day event is open to all and will showcase a range of boats alongside 'mini-seminars' covering different aspects of bluewater cruising.

Rally organisers World Cruising Club, best known for the annual ARC - Atlantic Rally for Cruisers, have joined together with leading offshore yacht broker Berthon International, to host the ARC Bluewater Open Day at Berthon International's HQ in Lymington UK on Saturday 10th June.

During the Open Day, a selection different styles of bluewater cruising boats, both private and brokerage boats, will be open for public viewing. Each boat is hosted by experienced yacht skippers, many of whom have sailed the ARC or around the world. The ARC Bluewater Open Day aims to get visitors thinking about many different aspects of living their bluewater dream, providing the opportunity to view offshore cruising boats and meet experts in refits, sails, communications and boat equipment, all whist mixing and chatting with experienced offshore cruisers in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

Shoreside, the 'Cruising Hub' will offer a chance to mix, mingle and chat about different aspects bluewater sailing with industry professionals and previous ARC skippers. A series of discussion groups will be run throughout the day, where visitors can join the chat around many varying bluewater cruising themes including 'cost of cruising', 'cruising as a couple', 'starting a bluewater refit' and 'how to buy a boat'.

"There was great mix of people and a number of boats to have a nose around." said Chris Regnart who attended the event before setting off on ARC and World ARC. "A worthwhile event for anyone starting to plan a bluewater cruising trip. During the day, meeting other owners was very helpful and I got some useful tips to consider for my own boat. Inspiring and well worth attending."

ARC Bluewater Open Day Registration

The ARC Bluewater Open Day is hosted by Berthon International at Berthon Marina in Lymington on Saturday 10th June and runs from 10AM to 6PM. The event is suitable for children from 8 years old and there is free parking on site.
