HARMAN International Industries, the premier connected technologies company for automotive, consumer and enterprise markets, announced today its next-generation JBL WAKE-Series receiver, the new JBL-R4500. The mechless source unit receiver features up-to-the-minute styling and outstanding, premium audiophile performance.

Beyond AM/FM and weather band reception, the JBL-R4500 will play music from virtually any digital device. MFi-certified, it displays album artwork and album/track/artist ID on its screen. Bluetooth® BT5.0 with ID streaming allows connectivity up to 100-feet away with an ultra-fast transfer rate. The JBL-R4500's IPX7 weatherproof faceplate is a full-color 4-inch LCD screen. A five-way pushbutton and rotary controller make using the receiver easy, even while under way. With NMEA 2000 compatibility as a key feature, playback can be controlled via a multifunction display. For added flexibility, it is wired remote ready and works with the JBL Click wireless Bluetooth steering wheel controller for key functions.

"The JBL WAKE-Series offers exceptional performance and incredible value to those interested in amping up their on-the-water audio entertainment," said Jeffery Fay, VP & GM Global Aftermarket, and Special Markets OEM at HARMAN. "The new JBL-R4500 is a sleek device that will fit the aesthetics of almost any helm, while providing a top-notch sound. Customers will also appreciate the easy install and flexibility of controls options."

The built-in amplifier of the JBL-R4500 source unit produces 4x55 peak at 4 ohms. With 2-ohm stability, up to eight 4-ohm speakers can be wired together. Able to provide formidable, distortion-free volume to be heard over the roar of engines, it delivers crisp, clear and accurate sound at standard listening levels. It has three sets of pre-outs (1 x L, R, Sub) with each set acting as its own zone.

With a faceplate of only 6-7/16 inches long x 3-inches wide, the JBL-R4500 will fit onto a compact dash or console without crowding other displays. It can be surface mounted and requires only 4-1/4-inches of clearance. The WAKE JBL-R4500 is available for $449.95.
