ARC 2023 - Elliot excited to welcome ted onboard!

by World Cruising Club 19 Nov 2023 18:03 UTC 19 November 2023

Every year, Sailor Ted chooses one special crew member to join for the ARC crossing to St Lucia. This year, he will be joining Elliot (aged 7) on Pure Joy.

Elliot is one of the 18 children who will be crossing the Atlantic as part of the ARC 2023 fleet. Ted invited the ARC children to enter a story writing competition if they wanted him to join them onboard. It was so hard for Ted to choose his favourite entry from those submitted by Gisele (on Uno), Seth (on Saltair), Tiril and Freida (on Tempus) and Elliot's. But Elliot's combination of amazing pictures and fun adventures won him over!

Ted and Me

One day I was on a small boat called Pure Joy. When I saw a small kid called Ted.
He was very lonely on that Island I found him on. So I let him in.
We began to have lots of epic adventures together.
We went sailing and hit rough seas.
We went to restaurant and ate frozen peas.
We climbed mountains and saw the view.
Wherever we went it was just us two.
And then one day when we were playing in the park.
Ted sail 'I would love to do the ARC!
' The beginning...

Ted also loved Seth's video entry so much that he sent his Lucian friend, Cinnamon the Parrot, to join him and the crew of Saltair on their Transatlantic crossing and onward to the World ARC!

We are very much looking forward to following both Ted and Cinnamon's adventures, and will be sharing them with you on our social media channels: www.facebook.com/arcrally & www.instagram.com/arc_rally

In total, 63 children aged under 16 will be completing an Atlantic Crossing as part of ARC or ARC+ in 2023. Read about how ARC kids go to School at Sea!
