World ARC 2023-24 finished in fine style in Saint Lucia in April with a parade of sail from Marigot Bay to Rodney Bay and a memorable end-of-rally prize-giving.
Some of the boats are now on their way to Europe while others are laying-up in the Caribbean with plans for more sunshine sailing next winter. We're looking forward to meeting everyone again at one of our Rendezvous.
The World ARC 2024-25 fleet are en route to Vava'u, Tonga - the picture above is Moody 54 Dilema on her departure from Bora Bora. Their Pacific odyssey continues with cruising Fiji and Vanuatu before this 'half' of the circumnavigation concludes in Mackay, Australia.
Cruising with purpose
One of the World ARC traditions is to 'cruise with purpose' - we help the sailors to get involved in community and charitable initiatives along the route. In Vava'u, we will be delivering an eye screening kit plus distance and reading glasses for adults and children on behalf of Global Vision 2020. We're also raising funds for Host-a-Vet to support visits from veterinarians (there are no vets on the islands) to provide general care, spaying and neutering especially on the outlying islands.
Tanna in Vanuatu is a very popular rally destination, especially the volcano expedition led by the local people. We always offer gifts of thanks, and this year we'll be donating new football boots and a team strip for the Tanna football team.
