MIA Members Report Strong Leads and Award Milestone at Singapore Yachting Festival 2026

by Marina Industries Association 30 Apr 05:49 UTC 23-26 April 2026

The Marina Industries Association (MIA) once again made its presence felt at the Singapore Yachting Festival (SYF), hosted at ONE15° Marina Sentosa Cove, with nine members sharing a dedicated stand and reporting strong business outcomes from the event.

The group included eight returning exhibitors from 2025 — a mark of confidence in the festival as a premier platform for the Asia-Pacific marine industry. Participating members were:

  • Horizon City Marina, Taiwan
  • Sanctuary Cove Marina, QLD
  • Hayman Island Marina QLD
  • Jones Bay Superyacht Marina, NSW
  • Bellingham Marine, QLD
  • Marine Structures, QLD
  • Poralu Marine, Indonesia
  • Copley Marine Group, NSW
  • Butchart Marine Services, NSW

Marinas reported strong interest from both boat owners and yacht managers, while industry suppliers noted a healthy pipeline of enquiries, particularly driven by new marina developments in Indonesia and demand for upgrades and maintenance of existing marine facilities across the region. All nine members have committed to exhibiting again in 2027 and hope others will join them to make their presence felt. Commenting on the positioning of the SYF, Suzanne Davies MIA CEO said, "There are over a dozen shows annually in the Asia region - you can't possibly go to all, and the overwhelming view of our group is that the Singapore Yachting Festival should be the show to attend to showcase marina facilities and industry suppliers in the region."

Historic certification milestone celebrated on stand

A highlight of the festival was a special ceremony held at the MIA stand on Friday, recognising Mayuree Mardastool as the first Thai female Certified Marina Manager — a significant milestone for the industry in Thailand and across the region.

The qualification, certificate, and CMM pin were presented by Scott Finsten CMM, Certified Member Chair for the region and Harbour Master of Ocean Marina in Pattaya. Finsten commended Mayuree on her distinguished service, with recognition for her most recent role at Yacht Haven Marina in Phuket.

Also in attendance was Steve Sammes CMM, who received his own certification 30 years prior, in 1996 — a testament to the enduring value of the qualification.

The Certified Marina Manager (CMM) designation is a globally recognised qualification awarded by the Global Marina Institute (GMI), throughout the UK, Europe, Africa, the Asia-Pacific and UAE, and by the Association of Marina Industries in the USA.

Ocean Marina Jomtien generously sponsored the networking event, providing refreshments to all attendees, a welcome gesture amid the heat and humidity of Singapore.

MIA members contribute to Southeast Asian Yachting Conference

Ahead of the SYF, ONE15° Marina hosted the Southeast Asian Yachting Conference, drawing more than 100 delegates. The premier B2B event focused on regional market growth, marina infrastructure, regulatory improvements, and sustainability, featuring expert panels from across the industry.

Jonathan Sit, Regional General Manager of ONE15° and conference MC, moderated the second panel of the conference, Marina & Waterfront Development Standards, which featured MIA CEO Suzanne Davies alongside three MIA members, Platinum 5 Gold Anchor marina managers: James Roy CMM of ONE15° Marina Sentosa and Scott Finsten CMM of Ocean Marina, along with Joseph Prabantara of Marina Development Indonesia, developer of Bali Gapura Marina, Indonesia's newest superyacht facility in Bali, which is expected to attain a strong Gold Anchor result once it undertakes the audit.

The MIA now looks forward to delivering its Marinas26 International Conference & Trade Exhibition which will take place on the Gold Coast Queensland at the Royal Pines Resort 25-27 May, immediately following the Sanctuary Cove International Boat show. With well over 300 delegates already registered, the MIA looks forward to welcoming delegates and exhibitors for an inspiring two days of conferencing, exhibition and networking, followed by the study tours.
