Less than a month to go until Atwell Martin Plymouth Race Week

by Charlotte Brett 18 Jun 2013 14:04 UTC 4-7 July 2013

There is now less than a month to go until the second edition of Plymouth Race Week begins, incorporating both the J24 and Seascape nationals. This year's title sponsor is Atwell Martin. The event has also received support from many local businesses including Allspars, Ullman Sails UK, Force 4 Chandlery, Sutton Harbour and Hazmellie Marine Chandlery.

Courses will be located both inside and out of Plymouth Sound, ensuring that high quality racing can be provided whatever the weather conditions. Crew facilities for this event are first class with competitors berthing in Sutton Harbour, Queen Anne's Battery and Plymouth Yacht Haven marinas - right at the heart of the onshore action and only a stone's throw from the race courses. The social programme looks set to ensure the après-sail party is as exciting as the racing, with live music from the likes of Rhythm Machine, Freshly Squeezed and Mad Dog Mcrea. Discounts at local seafood hotspot The Boathouse Café have been made available to all crew members.

Discounted entry rates have been extended to 28 June and there is still time to get your entry in; forms can be downloaded from www.plymouthraceweek.org. In addition, there is a special weekend rate of only £40 per boat. There are some local boats are still looking for crew – please contact the Royal Western Yacht Club on 01752 660077 if you are interested.

You can follow the action on Facebook 'Plymouth Race Week' and Twitter @PlymRaceWeek. Even if you are not sailing we hope to see you shoreside – our tented race village is situated by the Mayflower Steps on Plymouth's picturesque Barbican.

Please contact race director Chris Arscott at if you would like any further information – we look forward to hearing from you!
